With a new year, comes new resolutions and sometimes a new career path.
I’ve been thinking about cons and pros about freelancing vs. a full-time job for some time now. Honestly, I prefer to work for someone else and within a team, other than to work for myself exclusively. I’m a natural chatter and I enjoy working with others but I still might give it a try.
We all have those days when we need our brain to go right but it keeps going left (actually, mine always go left because I’m a leftie, but you get the point). Those are the days when we struggle because we are on a tight schedule, the project is almost due and we haven’t found the answer or done everything that we should have.
If you are having (or had) one of those days, I’m sorry to tell you my friend, but you have what is called a creative block.
I could start this post in a very hypocritical way and tell you that I don’t like Black Friday. But I would be lying to you, and so I won’t do it. Instead, I can tell you that it’s ok for you to take advantage of these days to go shopping (I do it too!), but (and this is a huge one) don’t lose your mind over it. Don’t sell your soul on account of a few discounts. Once you consider everything, you will see that you spent more money than you planned and all for nothing. By the end of the day, you just have more stuff but aren’t necessarily happier.
Everything that I know about being a designer was either learned within the few design courses that I had in University or was completely self-taught with the help of Doctor Google, design books, and design courses (like those on Skillshare).
